6 Keys to Productivity & Performance

#1 Take Initiative – Stay ahead of the game. Don’t wait for someone or something to tell you what you should be doing to further yourself towards your goals. Don’t wait for doors of opportunity to open- go open them! Constantly find new ways to stretch and grow yourself, and you will find that your life is producing more results.

“Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” - Proverbs 6:6-8

#2 Focus – Ultimately you are the one who chooses how to use your time. Ask yourself what is important to you and where you want to see yourself in the future. What would you like to change about your routine now? Write down these goals and focus on them. Take daily steps to work towards your dreams and ideals for yourself, no matter how big or small they may seem. You will be glad you did in the future.

Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.” - Proverbs 12:1

#3 Follow Through – Good intentions don’t get you very far. Success requires action. Productivity requires performance. If you say or intend on doing something to reach your goals, follow through with those intentions. Good intentions can lead you in the right direction, but hard work is what will get you there.

“In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.” - Proverbs 14:23

#4 Be Strategic - Working hard does not guarantee success. You must also work smart. Be strategic in how you exert your time and energy. There are no short cuts in life, but there are smart cuts. Investigate if you are exerting yourself in the best way you can with the resources and opportunities available to you. This will require you to vigorously seek the best possibilities for yourself.

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” - Proverbs 21:5

#5 Persist - Like they say, “Rome wasn’t built overnight.” Productivity and performance are daily pursuits that require great discipline and persistence. You will face adversity and the temptation to choose an easier, more comfortable path for yourself. Push yourself past adversity and past the limits of comfort. Thomas Jefferson said, “With great risk comes great reward.” Take risks and never give up on your dreams.

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” - Proverbs 24:10

#6 Commit to the Lord Colossians 3:17 says, “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Remember how Jesus lived His life for others and endured the ultimate pain for you. Remember daily how blessed you are to live a life of adventure and pursuit. Let these things serve as a reservoir of unending hope and encouragement, just as the Lord intended them to be.

“She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.” – Proverbs 31:17
