#1 Be Joyful – You’ve heard the saying, “Laughter kills a multitude of ills,” or “Laughter is the best medicine.” It’s true—happiness is the most important element of healthiness. Faith brings immeasurable joy because it brings us closer to God- the source of all good things (James 1:17.) 1 Peter 1:8-9 says, “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy…”

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” - Proverbs 17:22

#2 Be Grateful – We often don’t realize the power of our gratitude. Gratitude is like the battery percentage left on your phone, except it should always be 100%. If we count our blessings, we remember how full our lives are and it charges our batteries, giving us optimistic energy to live and work with joy. Find ways to show more gratitude to the Lord and those around you through words, actions, and prayer.

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs - 16:24

#3 Be Humble – Think about someone humble in your life and how much you admire them. Now imagine how much the Lord appreciates when you are humble towards Him. The Bible tells us countless times how important humility is in the eyes of the Lord. Micah 6:8 says, “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” As you seek God more deeply, you will grow in humbleness, which will allow for more wisdom and development.

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8

#4 Be Focused – Spiritual focus is very important to your physical wellbeing. Living at the center of God’s word brings peace and vitality to every area of your life. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” Stay focused on God’s truth and walk in it.

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-22

#5 Be At Peace – Proverbs 12:25 tells us, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad.” Although life is full of uncertainties and bumps in the road, we must always keep things in perspective. What we ‘feel’ is not always our ‘truth.’ Our truth is found in our perfect creator who blesses us daily with strength and everlasting peace.

“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” – Proverbs 14:30
